i am looking for very fancy places to dine out in the San Diego area. it is for a 21st birthday party and we need somewhere where you can get really dressed up. any ideas?Any really nice restaurants in San Diego?
The absolute best restaurant in San Diego is Island Prime, on Harbor Island. The restaurant sits OVER the water, with views of the bay as well as the downtown skyline.
The food is fancy and delicious. Chef Debra Scott is an owner, and is phenomenal. Each meal starts with a huge popover with jalapeno butter. It only gets better from there. Warning - portions are very large. I made the mistake of odering an appetizer, main course, and a side vegetable. You should really share appetizers, maybe one for 2 or 3 people, and each vegetable can serve 3 or 4. The main attraction is the steaks, but the seafood is equally delicious - just not quite as large a number of seafood offerings on the menu.
There's a yummy italian place in the gaslamp.. I dont' remember the name but its just down the street from the convention center... across(left) from the 7 story mall.Any really nice restaurants in San Diego?
George's at the Cove in La Jolla or try Azul restaurant. The city of La Jolla has very fancy restaurants so check around there.
go down 5th st they call it the lamp district that's all there is entertainment food dancing, or try this

Osetra Fish House in Downtown is great. It has a 2 level high wine cellar in the middle of the bar. Food is really good and sophisticated. The Italian restaurant mentioned above is called La Strada on 5th Avenue.
Kemo Sabe is small but nice and has wonderful food by chef Deborah Scott.
two words:
Ruth Chris
it's a steak house across the street from where they park the Star of India. One of the greatest steak places. Side orders are extra, but great. Great ambiance. Dressy kind of place. Bar to enjoy a drink prior to dinner. Make reservations. I had a birthday dinner there...great experience for me, personally.
you can get dressed up to go have dinner anywhere...the above mentioned Italian restaurant on 5th is good, Georges at the cove...excellent, Jacks La Jolla -Dining Room on Girard, the marine room an old favorite but overpriced..., pehoe's in Coronado has an island theme, a great menu and an unbelievable view of downtown San Diego from the other side of the bay...have a great 21st!!!
George's in LaJolla is pretty good and pricey, but as far as location, location, location, why not try some place right in the gas lamp if you're planning on going out afterwards? That way, you can get prime parking before it starts to get really packed - around 9? But if it's for a fancy dinner, I'd go to LaJolla- I love that place!
Rainwaters.... its a ritzy steakhouse right in downtown San Diego... Porterhouse steak was awesome
Bertrand's at Mister A's, great food and great view.
Bertrand at Mister A's is pretty much the standard. It's in downtown, by Balboa Park. Marine Room in La Jolla is very nice, as is Mille Fleurs in Rancho Santa Fe.
Harbor House is great
yea defntly.......MCDONALDS!!!!WOOT WOOT
