They are a local chain but everthing tastes great - lived there for six years and visited last week - and I went at least four times in that week.

Just go to Old Towne San Diego. Its got several authentic Mexican restaurants as well as cool little shops too!
The best in my opinion is one that you won't think of as mexican, but it really is. Indigo Grill in Little Italy opened after its Chef and owner Debra Scott spent a year living in Mexico learning about their spices and cooking methods. It's my favorite restaurant in all of San Diego!
