I'm going to be in San Diego for a day both before and after taking a cruise. I'll be staying downtown. What should I not miss seeing? Shops, restaurants, galleries....I'm up for all suggestions. How do I spend the day in San Diego?
If you are staying downtown, then just spend the day looking around the Gaslamp Quarter. No need to go any place else. There are a lot of shop, the Horton Plaza mall, restaurants and the new ball park Petco Park. You could take a walk over to Seaport Village. You could take to trolley to Old Town for about 1/2 the day, but it's not as nice now that Bazaar del Mundo isn't there anymore. Also, I think there is a water taxi that goes over to Coronado Island from Seaport Village, that might be fun too.
I was there a few months ago for a few days with the family. There is Sea World, which is an all day pass time. There is also the wharf area where old sailing ship museums are anchored. You can get a ticket to board on a couple of ships and an old Russian submarine. Also Tijuana is a short drive from San Diego. If you prefer not to drive, then there are buses that will take you across the border throughout the day.How do I spend the day in San Diego?
I`ve been in SD last Summer and it`s GREAT. The nicest beaches are: Point Loma, Mission Bay, Pacific Beach, la Jolla. I loved these malls: Fashion Mall and Mission. Pacific Beach area and SD downtown have great restaurants... The SD ZOO and Sea World are great too. Try the upstairs bar at Hyatt hotel, the view is great in the end of the day.
There is also the San Diego Zoo and the beach of course.
The San Diego Zoo is awesome.
Sea world is a place you don't want to miss, that's what I think.....
With just one day:
Walk to coast from downton (or taxi) and see old sailing ship Star of India, have lunch at Anthony's, walk or taxi to Seaport village (also on coast) and shop.
Take taxi to Zoo. If time and energy left, go to Balboa Park (nexto zoo) and see museums, flower gardens, old arhchitecture, etc.
Take taxi back to downtown and enjoy dinner at Gaslamp district (and nightlife if you've got the energy)
TRY TO VISIT THE GREAT ZOO !

San Diego is an ideal place to get away with your family. It has some of the most beautiful weather in the world, with beaches all down the coast. There are enough attractions that would take you a month to view. Visit the home of the world famous San Diego Zoo. Take a trip to see shamu at Seaworld, or enjoy the museums and the beauty of Balboa Park. A San Diego vacation rental would be a great start for the experience.
The only problem that you may find is which attractions to visit in such a short period of time!
Why San Diego vacation rentals from Sandiegovacation.com are the best choice?
Have you ever been locked out of your vacation rental, or entered your vacation home, to find it has not been cleaned, or is not available for the actual dates you booked? These are just a few of the questions, which may rise from not renting from a quality rental management company. Sandiegovacation.com strives to help provide you with the vacation rental that fills your needs, and make every vacation experience in something to remember. Our vacation homes provide.
Linens/Towels
Fully Equipped Kitchens
Family Atmosphere
Our San Diego vacation rentals range from the moderately priced vacation rentals to premier properties. Please call our reservationists, to help find the perfect vacation home for you.
Why a vacation rental over a hotel will save you money?
All of our homes have full kitchens. Hotels do not provide full kitchens, leaving you and your family with having to go eat out every day and night. And with small children you know how that can be. Having a full kitchen you are able to buy groceries, and have dinner inside your vacation home
There's so many things to do in San Diego. The zoo is great if you are into animals. Balboa Park (where the zoo is located) has many interest museums as well.
There's many romantic beaches and water activities as well. Hotel Del Coronado is a great victorian hotel. You could go order a drink there or enjoy a meal. There's a ferry from downtown San Diego to Coronado leaving regularly throughout the day. You could also rent bicycles or ride a gondola on Coronado Island.
Kayaking through the La Jolla Caves is also fun. There are some great places to watch the sun as well. Great restaurants too!
Have fun!
