Happily, San Diego has plenty of great restaurants.
For Sunday Brunch, I nominate Hash House A-Go-Go in Uptown, but be prepared to wait. The presentation is awesome, flavor is devine, and crowd watching is great fun. Close by the House is a great restaurant for deserts called, naturally enough, Extraordinary Deserts. I鈥檓 told that it is half off the calories on Wednesdays.
For a quick lunch, City Delicatessen on University in Hillcrest almost makes you feel like you are in NYC. All the waitresses arrived on the boat before the Titanic, or was it the Mayflower, have been working there since the 40s, and just the blue hair can send you to heaven.
For a fishy lunch, La Jolla Seafood on the waterfront near the junction of Harbor Drive and Rosecrans is fun. Elbow your way to the counter, order up, and then watch the fun as 18 burly x-fishermen serve the throng. Near there, is great pie at Pizza Nova 鈥?the goat cheese is to die for. However, you鈥檒l be happy to know that no goats were injured in the making of the Pizza. Perch on the second floor roost and enjoy the bay as you gaze out over a working marina.
For authentic Mexican, you can't go wrong with El Patio on Broadway in Chula Vista. I don鈥檛 think they have updated the d茅cor since Leave it to Beaver. Is that June Lacleaver cooking in that back?
Bon ApetitWhat is the best restaurant in San Diego?
That's a tough one since you didn't say where in SD or what kind of $$$ amount-but if neither of those matter's, my all time favorite would be Bertrand's at Mister A's.....you can't beat the food, service %26amp; the view! Aside from there. we also really like Salvatore's downtown, Rainwaters downtown, Athen's Market (Greek) downtown, California Cuisine (Hillcrest), The Marine Room (La Jolla), and Blue Point (Gaslamp)-other than that, there are still LOTS, you just need to be more specific!!! Have fun~What is the best restaurant in San Diego?
