That's pretty much tourist hotel gulch so not somewhere where locals would head for meals. But most of the hotels have undistinguished hotel restaurants you could use.

Corvette Diner is a very fun place to take kids (including adults who act like kids) and is very close to Hotel Circle. Take highway 163 south to the first exit "University", go down the long offramp that turns into 6th ave, make a right on University and go one block to 5th, make a right, and its on the left side of the street. Sometimes a wait to get in but lots of fun food and fun wait staff. It's a place that locals like to take out of towners so I think you'd enjoy it. Warning that parking is bad in that area of town so either valet park or hunt around for parking. Try not to go there at peak dining hours..early or late is better to avoid the crowds. http://entertainment.signonsandiego.com/鈥?/a>

There's a Dennys on Hotel Circle So. if that appeals to you.

Also, there's a Ruby's Diner in Mission Valley shopping mall which is close by, right near their multiplex theatre. http://entertainment.signonsandiego.com/鈥?/a>

Note there are two very similar shopping malls near you, Fashion Valley and Mission Valley, and it's easy to confuse the two.

There's a TGI Fridays in the Hotel Circle area which is a good place to take a family. Trophy's on Hazard Center Dr. is good if you want a sports themed restaurant with lots of tvs to watch sports.Good family restaurants in San Diego?
Mission Valley /Hotel Circle has Mimi's, Cheesecake Factory,

Denny's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Ruby's in (Mission Valley Mall)

King's for fish, the Waffle spot at the Kings Inn, Joe's crab Shack, also try Dave and Busters for games and food.

You can print a free map of this area with hotels and restaurants in this area at printfreemaps.com
There are multiple restaurants near there as it is in the middle of San Diego. Not really walking distance, but more becuase SD is not set up for it. Hotel Circle is an area called Mission Valley locally and there are two malls with a mile of each other right there (called Mission Valley Mall and Fashion Valley Mall). There is a Mimis for breakfast, and Chevys, Gordon Bierche, Boarders, Outback, Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs etc. for lunch/dinner. A good resourse for SD is www.signonsd.com, you can go into the entertainment section and then read restaurant reviews.
corvette diner is a 10/10 for sure, been to san diego 6 times and gone once everytime. Went there when i was 9 and i am 18 now!
Not much in Mission Valley, real touristy!

Try Ortegas if you like Mexican food, its about 5 minutes from Mission Valley.
