I will be in San Diego for a conference next month, staying in the Gaslamp District. I will probably go to a ball game one night, but need suggestions for activities the other three evenings. I love fine dining, and would also like recommendations of excellent restaurants in the area (preferably no chains). I'm not really a clubbing or bar-hopping kind of girl, but would be interested in something like a jazz club. I also would be interested in heading to a beach one evening. My conference will end at about 5pm each day. basically any and all suggestions for how to spend my evenings are welcome! What are the best restaurants and evening activities in San Diego's Gaslamp District?
Try Croce's place. It's owned and operated by Jim Croce's wife and son. Good food %26amp; good music .

You can look here for restaurant suggestions. It's not extensive, but there's a good description of what's there:

For beach, I recommend Pacific Beach (frequented by young crowd) or La Jolla Cove (very nice for walking around and just looking at the beautiful scenery):

Are you into shopping? I highly recommend Seaport Village as a tourist, interesting place to go. As to actually shopping malls: Fashion Valley is where all the beautiful people hang out. Horton Plaza is architecturally interesting. Almost all shopping mall in San Diego are outdoors, so you'll get to enjoy the sun and fresh air.
