Me and my girlfriend are planning to get away from los angeles for a couple of days we thought san diego would be nice but i dont know whats ther also need hotels and nice restaurants..HELP!What are some good sights in san diego california?
Go to the zoo early (so you can park near the entrance). Then go to the wide assortment of museums in Balboa Park (leaving your car in the zoo lot). Then go to Seaport Villiage for an evening stroll and enjoy one of the restaurants there.
That would be a fun day. (or two!)
ive lived in SD all my life and it is an excellent place for vacating.
may i suggest getting a cheap hotel, not expensive i mean.
maybe a holiday inn. or something.
restauants, depends what you like.

and its seafood and more, its awesomeWhat are some good sights in san diego california?
It depends on what you want to do. There are lots of choices in San Diego. You could ride a gondola on Coronado, go kayaking, take a bay cruise, have a beach bonfire, bike along the coast, go wine tasting, laze on a sandy beach, go hiking at Torrey Pines, and many other choices. Everyone has great suggestions . Coronado is a wonderful, clean tourist friendly town. Glorietta Bay Hotel is a great option to stay also. It ne of San Diego's wealthier communities and has the #1 rated beach and the #2 cleanest beach in the nation. You can spend the day on the beach, walking the shops on Orange Avenue. Great Restaurants and can take the ferry across into downtown San Diego and spend a day their at Seaport Village, and Harbor Drive.
If you are looking for a more fast paced adventure, ecclectic day, then i would say the Pacific Beach or Mission Beach is a good start. The Beach is crowded but definatley full of colorful character. There is Belmont Park and many shops and nightlife pretty much geared for the mid 20-30 yr old. This time of year it is pretty hectic.
Good Hotel is the Hotel Del Coronado. Some places to go are Pacific Beach, Sea World, Gas Lamp District, Horton Plaza and a trip over the border for some shopping in Tijuana.
go to www.happyhourmag.com. It's a san diego based bar %26amp; restaurant magazine.
I agree with Jen, you def. should have a picnic on sunset cliffs. The sunsets there are beatiful. Old town has a bunch of nice restaurants and stuff to check out.
Try going to the wild animal park you'll have a blast! U get to be nxt to the real thing. The beach. Hyatt? its next to Seapot village. Its better than the mall! its very interesting they sell cool places. Its that place its with the harbor.
the best place to eat ribs Phils! Small restraunt but the best ribs on earth! Lego land! More of a kid park. But del mar fair is there is the best food, products, fun , and lots more.
Go to San Diego you'll have fun.
I don't actually live in the area, however I did visit the area for vacation several months back and as a visitor myself I can tell you that Horton Plaza is a good place for some shopping. The San Diego Zoo was really nice to see, Balboa Park was beautiful, the architecture was awesome and I absolutely fell in love with Coronado! Olde Town was pretty neat as well. Since your driving I'm sure getting around won't be a problem for you but I also found that the Trolley Tours were super helpful in getting a chance to see all of the best of the city. As for hotels I can't really help you, since I stayed with a friend. Have a good time!!
You mean besides SeaWorld and the famous Zoo? That's about all I can help you out with. I enjoyed my mini vacation to San Diego. I will definetely go back!
If you prefer the younger crowd then you might wanna do the Pacific Beach thing... lots of restaurants and clubs.
If you prefer a little older, more refined then you should try Downtown...
Other than that you can't really go wrong... whatever you want to do, it's here.
Aside from the typical SD tourist spots like the Zoo, Seaworld, ect.. I would check out some the natural scenery too like Torrey Pines State Park. I went there last weekend and saw dolphins playing around and jumping really high out of the water. The cliffs near UCSD also have a great view of La Jolla and this $35 million dollar mansion perched up on a cliff, it's located on La Jolla Farms Rd right off La Jolla Shores Dr. Cabrillo National Monument has the best view of downtown and Coranado and is next to some cool tidepools. Mt. Soledad in La Jolla also has great views from its peak. Also just take a drive up the coast along PCH through North County, it's very scenic and there are some cool little main street type downtowns along the way. Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Downtown La Jolla are great areas to stroll around and soak up the atmosphere.
There's a lot of good restaurants in SD. Anthony's downtown is great for seafood. Sushi Deli in Hillcrest or downtown is good for inexpensive sushi, Hillcrest location is a little cheaper. But if you like BBQ and ribs go to Phil's BBQ in the Sports Arena area, it is the best bbq I have ever tasted and is busy all the time. Max's downtown on 6th is also really good and pricey.
after living in SD for a decade, it was always a favorite place for me to go... Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach.... Beautiful and romantic!! There is a nice restaurant in OB as well called Thee Bungalow, my favorite. Just make sure to make reservations!!
In Pt. Loma there is a nice lighthouse and tide pools that are fun to check out.
I always take people to the childrens pool in La Jolla, its neat because it has all the seals living there now.
Have fun!!
seaworld
the zoo
balboa park - the resturants are very expensive and not the best. you're near hillcrest anyway, check out hamburger mary's or extraordinary desserts
pacific beach - check out cass street for antiques, taco surf for lunch (taco surf is not on cass, but it's close, i don't remember which street), the mission cafe on the boardwalk is nice to watch people from, belmont park (it has rides) is close as well, just drive parallel to the beach going south and you'll find it
the birch aquarium
little italy - it's downtown, so you can actually hit up seaport village and the gaslamp if you like. in little italy for lunch go to mimo's, dinner zagarello's or filipe's are both good. don't miss the cookies at filipe's though!
seaport village - lots of little shops and resturants, nice little area to peruse. the resturants are a little on the pricy side, but they're good.
gaslamp district - party central. check out what bands are playing at 4th %26amp; b or any of the other venues down there. i'm not sure if they've re-opened the old spaghetti factory, but that's good as is the food at the grand hotel.
coors amphitheater - see who's playing when you go to sd, they usually have pretty good bands playing. there's also a water park nearby.
hotel wise i wouldn't do the hotel del coronado, i've had friends work there. not somewhere i'd stay, but deffinately worth seeing, it's beautiful. stay away from the beach and the heart of downtown, loud and usually not the cleanest of areas. that being said they just renovated the el cortez and it looks beautiful (still in a noisy area!). i would reccomend a double tree hotel either downtown (it's near little italy, but also near the airport) or in rancho penesquitos (beautiful! my parents live near there). but all in all i'd find something near what you want to see. if you want the zoo and balboa park, there's this great little b%26amp;b on upas street near there (for the life of me i can't remember the name of it) that has themed rooms. both orbitz and hotels.com will give you hotels based on the area.
wine tasting was a lot of fun, we did very little research and ended up going to 2 really great wineries orphila and ferrera (which is in escondido). the other wineries we went to didn't really make an impression on me.
The hotel del is beautiful, but horribly expensive. So is the Omni. I would reccommend looking at a hotel in the "hotel circle" area in mission valley (search san diego, it's right at the intersection of the 163 and 8 freeways). It's much safer than downtown SD, very close (about 5 minutes to downtown), and probably cheaper. There are a ton of resturants there too. The Tickled Trout resturant is in one of the hotels there and is very good, there are a bunch of resturants in the hotels on Shelter Island that are great. Old town is very close as well and it has good mexican resturants and historcal attractions.
i loved the park by the zoo. its huge and beautiful.
they used to have the world fair there.
there are some pretty good sushi places in Hillcrest
