Can anyone tell me where a good, reasonable restaurant is in San Diego?

I want a decent meal at a decent price. Any type of food will do. I would like to find a good bowl of gumbo, or chili if possible. Preferably in San Diego, but I would be willing to drive if it is good enough. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner.Can anyone tell me where a good, reasonable restaurant is in San Diego?
Look into a place called Ranchos in North Park. It is a qaint place that serves Mexican food with many vegetarian options, has great sangria, great food, and great local ambiance. There is another good Mexican food spot in University Heights called Ponces. I am not sure about either Gumbo or Chili, but these places are not chain, locals are there instead of tourists, and the food is great!
