In California, what's the half way point (city) from Riverside to San Diego?

What restaurants are in this city?In California, what's the half way point (city) from Riverside to San Diego?
Temecula or the next big city, Escondido. There is a mall with Nordstrom, Macy's, a food court, all the other little stores (Forever 21, GameStop, Hot Topic, Godiva, etc.), also a large plaza with a huge movie theater, tons of places to eat, and lots of hotels. Escondido isn't the nicest of areas but the areas around the malls seem to be the best. Temecula used to be such a nice place with all of its rolling hills and wineries- now so many people have moved there that it just looks like any other suburban city complete with Starbucks, a million traffic-y stoplights, and all the other things you're used to like shopping strips, etc. Either way- both average, nice places to stop and get some rest.
I would agree, probably somewhere around Temecula. Lots of good places to eat including the wine country. Very nice food, drink and views. In California, what's the half way point (city) from Riverside to San Diego?
