San Diego: Mission Valley?

This is my first trip to San Diego, and I am planning on staying in Mission Valley area. Are there good hotels, restaurants, and other sight-seeing locations there?

Also, is there a metro station in the area that connects to the airport and other sight-seeing areas?

if you got tips for first time San Diego tourist, please share them too.

Thanks in advance!San Diego: Mission Valley?
Hotel Circle is in Mission Valley and there are plenty of nice places there.

There is a trolley station that will take you all over San Diego from Old Town to the Mexico border

Here is a link to The Reader magazine. It's a free local magazine that has great info on dining, entertainment, lodging, concerts, and events in the area. There is a coupon tab that has some good coupons for local places.
