Sites to see with a 3 year old in San Diego California?

We are staying in Old Town and are already quite familiar with that area as well as Seaport Village. We are NOT going to Sea World or the zoo this time. Can anyone give me any more suggestions as to where to visit? I heard there's an aquarium near La Jolla. Also, any restaurant suggestions would be great too! ...We're leaving today....Thanks in advanced.Sites to see with a 3 year old in San Diego California?
Legoland in Carlsbad is great for a 3 yr old. My kids (6 %26amp; 4) love it. I think it is free for 3 yr or younger, you might want to check it out. They have a new aquarium next door now (I haven't visited it).

Balboa Park has the Reuben H Fleet Center (science/hands on museum) which has a "Kid's City" play area on the second level, for kids up to 5 yrs old. Close to this museum is a nice outdoor playground area too.

And Balboa Park is also great for a stroll, watch the koi pond, have a picnic, visit the cottages, puppet theatre and just walk around.

For eating, try the fish tacos at the bar in the Brigantine (not the restaurant, but the bar) and they have a decent kid's menu.

Also Point Loma Seafood has great tuna fish salad sandwich and is fun for the kids to watch the bay, boats and seagulls from there.
You definitely have to check out the new Children's museum in downtown SD. There are lots of activities and fun things your child will enjoy.

The Birch Aquarium at Scripps is another nice place to visit.

Balboa Park has a lot of activities for kids.

I recommend the San Diego Model Railroad Museum. It has some of the largest model railroad layouts in the world. Kids get in free and the parents will enjoy it too.

There is a miniature railroad in front of the zoo

The Spreckels Organ Pavilion holds free outdoor concerts Sundays at 2:00 PM. During the summer there are concerts scheduled on various days during the week. It is the world's largest outdoor pipe organ.

La Jolla has the Cove and the Children's Pool, which, BTW, is overrun by seals so children can't swim there anymore. It's become a popular place to view the animals. There is a sidewalk that runs along the coast through a very picturesque park.

For food, I recommend the Mexican food at Alfonso's on Prospect St. Sit on their patio and watch the world go by.

The Birch Aquarium is on the cliffs near UCSD and offers a spectacular ocean view.

If you want to drive a few miles north, Legoland is in Carlsbad.

Wild Animal Park (way better than the zoo)

Tide Pools
There's a train ride and a merry'go'round at Balboa Park that your 3 year old would probably love....also lots of gardens. And of course, the zoo.

One of the best beaches for children is La Jolla Shores. There's a park with a playground near the beach.
