Things to do/Places to Eat In San Diego/ Family Friendly?

Hi,

My family and I are going to San Diego, CA in June. We have never been there before and I wanted to know if anyone knew of some family friendly restaurants near our hotel, Comfort Inn Zoo/Sea World. We are going to Sea World and the zoo, but wanted to know what else to do. What are the beaches like? Is that water warm? Are there big waves that we can watch people surf on? What is the temperature like in June? Any info. would be great and much appreciated! Thanks!! :)Things to do/Places to Eat In San Diego/ Family Friendly?
Hi, I live in San Diego. It's SUNNY SAN DIEGO! The beaches are worth going to, the sand is soft, and in June, the temperature is in the 80's or 90's or so. You should try going to the Coronado beach. It's beautiful there :) You should also stop by Balboa park, LOTS of stuff to do there. Go to Old Town too.

Hope you have fun!
We visited San Diego last summer and I thought it was a wonderful city. Make sure you go over to Coronado - the beach there is lovely and the neighbourhood is nice to sightsee in. Also, don't miss La Jolla - gorgeous beach, hundreds of seals lounging right in front of you, but of course a bit touristy.

I actually would not recommend the zoo - it's a little pricey, and we hardly saw any animals - it seemed like they were all sleeping at the back of their exhibits. Can you make it to the San Francisco Zoo? Yes, the one that was in the news recently - from pictures I've seen, the animals are really up close (yeah, I know, but I'm sure they've taken every precaution that they'll never escape again). If you do go to the San Diego Zoo, go to Albertson's (I think) and buy your tickets there in gift card form - they have racks of gift cards and you'll save quite a bit of money by buying them there. We didn't go to the Wild Animal Park though - that might be better. We took the Old Town Trolley tour too - it's good to get an idea of which places you'd like to go back to visit:

If you buy your tickets online from the site above you'll save some money too.

If you like baseball, I was told that the tickets are really cheap - $5 and it would be something fun to do for an afternoon.

Balboa park is also really wonderful - there are free days at many of the museums - Mondays and Tuesdays, I think. Just ask at the tourism place there.

We ate in a lot of Mexican places while we were there since we love Mexican food. I can't really recommend a spectacular restaurant though since we didn't go all out on the trip. I heard that the Sunday brunch at the Hotel Del Coronado was wonderful though, but pricey. It would be a really special treat and whether you eat there or not, go inside. It's the hotel where Some Like it Hot was filmed with Marilyn Monroe.

I'm really looking forward to going back to San Diego one day soon to do all of the things I couldn't talk my husband into. I am sure you'll enjoy your visit!

I'm a San Diego native and I could type on and on but, here is a website for a free, weekly. local magazine that in my opinion is the best source of information for the entire area.

You can see where to dine, where to go, what events are going on, and even discount coupons.

It's what I look at every Thursday to see what happening. Welcome and have a great time. The only problem with June is that time a year we get what's called June gloom in the morning. It's just low clouds that keep it cool until afternoon.

I would just add that yes the air is warm but the water won't be like florida or hawaii, it's in the 60's and be prepared for June gloom.

The zoo is a must but be there at 9 when they open. After 2 hours the animals have all been fed and tend to lay around as the crowds appear. That gives you 1/2 day for something else. By the way, the zoo is next to Balboa Park so you can do all the museums if you like.

If you have little kids then you may want to visit Legoland in Carlsbad which is 1/2 hour north of the city. If you're lucky the flower fields next door will be in bloom.

Best fish and chips: Point Loma Seafood

Best view: Cabrillo National Monument
in june you can catch the del mar fair in del mar

lego land

the animal park

del mar fair beach has very strong waves and you will surly find surfers

usually in june the temp. is 70f-100f( usually 81f)
