Your best chance of finding somewhat upscale take-out food on Christmas Day would be to call some of the big hotels nearby and ask if they will do takeout. There just aren't many stand-alone restaurants that are open Christmas Day, but restaurants that are a part of the hotel will usually be open because they have to be prepared to feed guests. I would suggest you call around and see what you can come up with, starting with the nicest big hotels close to where you plan on eating. A friend told me yesterday that Pizza is the most frequently ordered take-out food at Christmas, Chinese is second.
Try Milton's Deli in the Flower Hill Mall (858-792-2225). I bet they're open because it's a Jewish deli. Great deli food! Gargantuan sandwiches! Also they have fabulous Xmas cookies which I sometimes pass off as my own.Any restaurants open for (fairly nice) take-out food on Christmas Day in San Diego or North County area?
