I can't do much on weekdays, but on the weekends I would love to do something cool.
Please don't suggest the zoo or sea world.
I have already been and I don't want to do anything too expensive.
Anyway, I would really appreciate some suggestions on the cheaper side.
I also would love some suggestions for where to eat.
So if you know of any good restaurants or somewhere that I can't pass up, please tell me.What are some cool things to do in san diego?
I definitely recommend Mount Soledad in La Jolla. On a clear day from the cross you can see the entire San Diego metro clear south to Tijuana.
It is 100% free and is an extremely relaxing experience if you aren't deathly afraid of heights.
Pacific Beach and Mission Beach are really awesome places to go. The beaches are clean, except for the normal seaweed, and the sand and water is usually warm. There are also plenty of attractive people, bars, clubs, restaurants, shops, and an amusement park (Belmont Park in Mission Beach)!! I definitely recommend Felippi's Pizza Grotto in Pacific Beach for the best Italian food. It is at 962 Garnet Ave and the phone is (858) 483-6222鈥?
Fashion Valley Mall on Friars Road in Mission Valley is one of the best malls in Southern California and the best in San Diego. It is like a Rodeo Drive or Champs-脡lys茅es in mall form! It is definitely the place to go if you are into stuff like that, or you can just enjoy a nice walk in an awesome mall.
La Jolla Cove on Coast Boulevard in La Jolla is a really cool beach to watch sea lions, and an awesome sunset beach. While you are there you should also check out downtown La Jolla and drive along La Jolla Boulevard back into Pac Beach.
Coronado is definitely an experience to remember. The island is a complete island city, complete with main street shops, a luxurious hotel (Hotel Del Coronado), and great atmosphere. The bridge to get to the island also offers amazing free views of downtown San Diego and the bay, but you can only drive across it and traffic is usually moderately heavy.
Taking a drive to the border is a unique experience as well. The San Ysidro Border is the busiest in the world, and is great for taking pictures of culture and society. There is also a great outlet center, Las Americas Premium Outlets, on Camino De La Plaza. There are many designer labels and mall labels that offer clothes and merchandise for prices that can't be resisted.
Seaport Village in downtown is another relaxing place to go and walk around. There are shops and a waterfront walkway. You can watch ships, planes, helicopters, traffic, people, and the skyline of downtown while you shop or eat or just relax.
Balboa Park in general is a pretty great place, and some of the museums have free days.

What are some cool things to do in san diego?There is an awesome restaurant in the Ocean Beach area called Shades.. GREAT food and you sit on the patio with a view of the ocean. Not cheap, but not expensive either. You take one of the buses from the Old Town trolley stop, I can't remember which one though. 35 maybe?? Anyway, it says Ocean Beach on it. Also there is the beach there (obviously) and some shops.
The prettiest beach I saw was La Jolla, but you have to take like an hour bus ride to get there. I guess I keep assuming you won't have a car, if you do things may be easier for you! My sister and I did a kayak cave tour for like 45 bucks each that was really awesome. There are a few stores down by the beach to rent kayaks, snorkeling gear, kickpaddles, etc.
I also like the Old Town are if you just want to look in some shops (they have alot of stuff from Mexico).
You should go to the beaches,there are some great ones over here and the car fee is a good price.I'd recommend going to Coronado beach,it's beautiful,barley any seaweed and I believe it's free.There's also Imperial Beach,it's okay,La Jolla is great too they have the tidepools there.But Cornado is my personal favorite.
You probably shouldn't go to Silver Strand.Last time I went,there was loads of Sea Weed and flies everywhere.Every time I went into the water,my leg always got stuck in something,sucks for boogie boarding.
You can also go to Knotts Soak City,a lot of great rides and it's 20$ for a kids ticket and about 27$ for adults(I think).One ticket lets you go on any ride you want,until they close at 6pm.A lot of great rides,try the Pacific Spin :)

Beach: I would suggest La Jolla Cove for walking along board walk and watching ocean crash into sandstone cliffs - wild seals etc.

Seaport Village: quaint shopping distric with cool boutiques to browse through. Also can walk along Embarcadero with street art, boats etc.

Old Town and Presidio Park. Old Town is CA birthplace where you will find CA first brick house, CA first school house, CA first African American business, etc. Presidio Park is now just a lovely lovely green space.

Balboa Park: huge urban park with awsome architecture. Walkways and gardens are free, museums are not free, but not terribly expensive either. Some museums free on Tuesdays.

You definitely want to have dessert at Extraordinary Desserts. They are open quite late....around midnight is closing. 2 can easily share a dessert.
An inexpensive boat cruise is Bahia Belle. For only $10 you can cruise back and forth across Mission Bay from the Bahia Resort to the Catamaran Resort. In the evening they have live music. They also have a bar.You can get off and then back on.
Have a beach bonfire. You can do this on any beach that has fire rings. Bring your own supplies. It's easier to find an empty fire ring on weeknights. My favorite area is Fiesta Island or drive all the way around the Bahia Resort in Mission Bay. Theres a public parking lot in the back and the beach has a number of fire rings.
Enjoy Happy Hour at Casa Guadalajara on Taylor Street in Old Town. It's 4-7 Monday-Friday. They have great margaritas (only $3 the last time and I went) and FREE appetizers. You won't need to eat dinner....!
Make reservations to dine at George's Outdoor Terrace Bistro while the sun is setting. It's a spectacular sunset overlooking La Jolla Cove. This is a casual dining place. They save some of the seats for walk ins, but will fill half of the seats by reservation....ask for a table overlooking the cove.
