Can anyone tell me about San Diego California?

Hi everyone. I am looking for people that live in San Diego California or have been there and would like to suggest things to do. Me and a group of five other girls all ages from about 28 to 37 are going in July and this is the first time for us all. We may also visit Mexico while we are there. We are looking for fun things to do and great restaurants! Thank you!!!Can anyone tell me about San Diego California?
You're planning on visiting San Diego in July, which is prime tourist season. Here are some fun things to do in San Diego in the summer:

-- go to the beaches (duh!). Many of the different beaches and beach communities have different atmospheres. Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach have more young people and partying and some surfers. Torrey Pines has more surfers and nature watchers.

-- nightlife - the Gaslamp Quarter in downtown has lots of restaurants, clubs, and bars, as well as a few performing arts spaces.

-- Old Town - this part of town has the Old Town State Park, where you can see what San Diego was like in the late 1800s. There are some good mexican restaurants in this area with large margaritas. climb up presidio hill for a picnic or to see a nice view.

-- tourist attractions - The san diego zoo is definitely worth checking out - while the pandas are cute, the polar bear exhibit is always worth visiting. sea world has rides and animal shows. legoland is up in carlsbad, but is more geared toward kids. there are quite a few museums in balboa park, but most are just so-so. however, walking around balboa park is pretty nice, check out the botanical gardens and the cool architecture. there are also several casino resorts in the rural areas. along san diego bay you can walk along to see the Star of India (old sailing ship part of the maritime museum) and the USS Midway aircraft carrier museum. in mission beach, there is a boardwalk, and a little amusement park with a wooden roller coaster. also check out Cabrillo National Monument with the historic lighthouse on Point Loma or go tide pooling or check out the cool view of downtown from the point.

-- shopping. there are lots of cool shopping opportunities, from outlet shopping (Carlsbad, San Ysidro, Viejas) to touristy shopping (Seaport Village).

-- outdoors. there's lots of outdoor recreation to be had, from watersports - surfing, snorkeling, sailing, kayakking, motorboating, to hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, etc. in the local regional parks. check out Torrey Pines state park, Mission Trails Regional Park or the chula vista nature center. there's also lots of tennis, golf, etc. and if you like watching sports, the san diego padres are a fun baseball team to watch, in their new stadium downtown.

have fun in America's finest city!
I'd walk along the road that parallels the sea and visit an area called Sea Port Village and eat at Anthony's Fish Grotto - you sit right over the ocean, and the fish tacos are fabulous! Harbor House - along the same stretch of road - is a very nice, excellent seafood place (more formal than Anthony's). This area is downtown (downtown runs along the coast). Can anyone tell me about San Diego California?

T.J. Mexico - One day and your good for life. The street tacos are the best.

Go to La Jolla. see the seals and the Cove.

Gaslamp (Downtown) is a blast! Friday %26amp; Saturday nights rock.

Want to party - Mission Beach %26amp; Pacific Beach.

Expensive taste - Coronado.
I cannot add too much to what my fellow San Diegans have suggested..EXCEPT, Wild Animal Park in Escondido is a wonderful way to spend the day. Also, a trip to Mexico simply is not a good idea at this time. We have been reading a lot about kidnappings down there and the with the demonstrations there seems to be an increase in crimes against American tourists visiting there. Don't forget to visit the Del Coronado, eat appetizers at the outside terraces, right on the beach and very relaxing to people watch!
