Looking for a great beachfront hotel in San Diego?

I am going to be in San Diego from August 22nd till the 26th with my girlfriend. It is her first time seeing the ocean and I want to try to get a beachfront room. Can anyone recommend a great hotel for our stay? Some of the ones I have researched are" Paradise Point, Hotel Coronado, The Pacific Terrace Hotel, and the Marriot on Coronado Island.

Also any great restaurant recommendations would be great, we aleady booked a dinner cruise with san diego harbor excursions.

Thanks in advance!Looking for a great beachfront hotel in San Diego?
Yeah, the Hotel Del rocks, but is super pricey. The Hyatt at Mission Beach is pretty cool too, and will save you a few dollars. It is on Mission Bay, so the water is warmer and not as rough. Sunday brunch at the Hotel Del is awesome, and then you can see the island and the grounds without having to stay there. As for restaurants...WOW, there are so many. If you head down to the Gaslamp District, all have menus displayed outside so you can see what they have and the costs. Unless they are empty, I will try things at random and have never been disappointed. If you head to La Jolla, there is a very small, hotel just across the street from the Hardrock. The name escapes me now, but it is an awesome hotel (although not beachfront, but oceanfront/view) and they have an absolutely fabulous restaurant in it!! Have a blast!
Hotel Del Coronado, is by far the best for what you're looking for.

For dinner, check out Mr. A's downtownLooking for a great beachfront hotel in San Diego?
I agree, Coronado is the best. Miguel's Cocina is a great Mexican restaurant there (accross the street in the courtyard behind Brigantine - it's kind of hidden). Coronado is Pricey, though. La Valencia in La Jolla is nice too...still pretty pricey - although not literally right on the beach. The Hilton San Diego Resort is right on the Bay...like Paradise Point...those aren't really on the open ocean. Also the Hotels on Harbor Island have a nice view....but those again are on the harbor...not the beach.....but the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club is right on the beach....but the Del is extra special!

Hotel Del is special, but it's pretty old and the fixtures are evident of it. You can walk through it without staying in it. The Coronado Marriott is really beautiful! Full luxury! And just across the Coronado bridge so you can get into downtown easily for a baseball game, visit to the gaslamp, etc.

For restaurants we love Peohe's on Coronado. Mr. A's in downtown is really special too, but be prepared to spend a bit of $! 5th %26amp; Hawthorn is a bit older and lower key, but they have a great prix fixe menu for around $50 for 2 that includes a bottle of wine.

For entertainment, Triple Espresso is hilarious! Try to get tickets if you've never seen it. And of course hit some of the beautiful beaches! If you're a golfer, Coronado and Torrey Pines are beautiful courses....right on the coast!
or try the La Jolla Beach and tennis club. The rooms are actually on the beach and a large area or the beach is privately owned by the hotel so you can have private bbq's in the evening. I saw dolphins swim past as we were having breakfast there, we always honeymoon at the La Jolla Beach and tennis club as it is very romantic. I have also stayed at the Hotel Del and it is a lovely hotel and spa but this gives you another chioce, if you choose one of these two you will have a great time.

For beachfront, I would say the Hotel Del. It's a lovely place. Paradise Point is one of my favorite hotels but it is actually on the bay not the ocean. I would recommend one of these two. George's at the Cove in La Jolla or the Marine Room are really nice restaurants. The Marine Room is right on the beach, it has actually been flooded several times and during high tide the waves come up close to the windows.
if price isn't an object ............the Hotel Del is the spot . quite romantic ...........alot of history there as well .............and on the beach .

best of luck !

cheers !
