You got to try Filippi Pizza Grotto in Pacific Beach on Garnet and Cass (it's next to Zanzibar Coffee House).

They have a few shops/restaurant but its owned and run by a single family. The prices are good and so is the ambiance. Very nice setting...dark, intimate and the waitress are very nice. It tends to get busy during the weekend and night...so get there early. Parking is a bit of a problem because you have to find residential parking or park at the BofA parking lot.
You can show up in shorts and tshirt and it'll be a-okay.
Their pasta is to die for! Pizza is very good...yummy!
Try it one time...hope you like it as much as I do :)

try croces in the gaslamp. just south of broadway on fifth st downtown.
