What are some nice neighborhoods in San Diego?

im planning on moving to san diego hopefully sometime in 2010.

i want to know what areas are good for a young, single, 23 year old. somewhere affordable but safe....no projects or too many homeless..but close to shops, bars, beach, and restaurant and public transportation.

it doesnt even have to be in san diego....i wouldnt mind living in the surrounding area.

thanks :)What are some nice neighborhoods in San Diego?
im not sure how affordable you need.. but the better areas would be bonita/eastlake.. la jolla.. lotta shops in mission beach area and la jolla...

you can find more affordable places in a lot of other places that are not bad neighborhoods. la mesa would be a good start to look. like off normal ave (lemon ave to maple ave etc;)

helix mountain...

well.. good luck. sd is beautiful w/ so much to do:)
Bankers Hill, Hillcrest, Mission Valley, Birdland, All the beach area, Pac beach, ocean beach, La jolla, Mission Beach. Anywhere Towards the north and coast. Bankers Hill and Hillcrest for me offered the best mix of everything I wanted at the time I lived there I was 21-23 years of age. What are some nice neighborhoods in San Diego?
of course ALL of the beach towns would be good.

from Coronado in the south

to Carlsbad in the north.

try to stay West of the 805

East county is desert hot in the summer !!

I like...

South Park

Bankers Hill

Hillcrest

most of North Park ( 60%)

some parts of Clairemont.

Golden Hill
